DENTAL DREAMS – PATH TO SUCCESS !
“EXAM PREPARATION”
MY dear friends
“ Even while going for a RABBIT hunt,
PREPARE yourself for a TIGER hunt ! ”
I follow this dictum for my each & every Surgery .
We have discussed about the process of successful learning in one of the prior posts.
“An examiner always looks for – RELEVANT information given by you in your OWN way, whether you have understood it Completely.”
Simple Tips for excelling in your exams
1.ATTITUDE
Prepare URSELF for a Victory,
keep happy,
be positive,
maintain good health,

be receptive

Is knowledge enough for Dental Success
2. KNOWLEDGE
gather maximum relevant knowledge of that Particular Subject from books & internet
Know your Knowledge by asking yourself questions and answering them
Correctly, if u err check the correct answer and Know it
Knowing is different from Memorizing, If u know how to ride a bicycle you will
NEVER forget it ever in ur Life !
3.EXAMINE YOURSELF
think yourself as an examiner and set a question paper
then time yourself and write down the answers.
Check it yourself and grade it/give marks.
Its better in a group, one person sets one paper and examines it, others
set other Subject papers and thus turn by turn each one becomes
both, an examiner & Examinee.
Group discussions are specially important to know your mistakes and to
prepare for an Oral exam (viva).

Use of Memory for Success in Exams
4. MEMORY
Develop a Selective Memory, Brain is like a Computer,
delete memories of
Unwanted things so that you have MORE space to store your Knowledge.
- Memory is of 3 types – AUDIO, VISUAL & SPATIAL
- Develop your Audio memory by listening to the songs that you do NOT like much & then repeating the Lyrics correctly, if possible singing in the same tune.
- Develop your Visual memory by writing down a list of 10 various objects, look at the List for say 5 minutes then close the List and try to write it down again, in the same Order. As you succeed, lessen the time and increase the number of objects .
- Spatial Memory is Very Important in Dental Surgery and especially so In Oral & Maxillo Facial Surgery .
- Develop your Spatial Memory by looking at diff objects & people in a room and then writing down their positions correctly without looking at them again.
5.NOTES
Go over your Notes taken during the class or otherwise try to absorb as much as knowledge from them.

e.g. Liver- Fatty Liver, Nutmeg Liver, Liver carcinoma
If you can acquire them, watch the videos of relevant topics again & again.
7. SURF THE NET
WWW is a Good friend, use GOOGLE, FB, YAHOO to get Maximum NEW
information(relevant to the topic) that can be used in the exam.
8.GROUP DISCUSSIONS

each One helps each one unknowingly.
